Already GreenCine was enough of a timesuck, guess what, looks like we're about to add a Gamefly account to our household. We already bought House of the Dead 2 & 3 because it was pretty much a given we'd be all over those - I know I will - but not sure how I'm going to like Resident Evil, Alone in the Dark, Zombie Massacre, Fatal Frame, Bully, etc. so $9 a month seems a very reasonable amount for some foot-wetting.

My favorite games are first-person rail shooters - somebody else drive, please, the only thinking I wanna do is where to aim the gun. Although I'm open to other stuff - the last game console I owned was Atari for shit's sake, so I'm looking forward to the catching up I have to do.

BTW, all this controversy over GTA4 makes me wish there was a game where I get to run around and smash the patriarchy. Blowing up cars full of catcalling dickheads? Shooting assholes blocking my path and commanding me to smile? YEAH. C'mon Rockstar, where's your edge?

We have all of the Resident Evil series (with the exception of RE4 for the Wii). Nic -loves- them. Since I tend to be a bit of a wimp when it comes to actually hacking up zombie bits, I just watch him play, but they've been intriguing enough for me to watch him play all of them (yes, I'm a good geekly wife... I like watching my hubby play video games ;) ). And especially at $9 a month, you can try them all out, and see whatcha like. :D

I've heard *very* good things about RE. CANNOT wait.
I like how some of the games are designed so that you can just watch someone else play them and still enjoy them. I couldn't get the hang of Darkness and turned it over to an expert, and was perfectly content to watch him run around the city while I yelled helpful stuff like "Ooh! Go that way!"

I suspect you can do all those things in GTA, but getting points for it mebbe notsomuch. (Somebody did a "Canadian tourist monologue" in the GTA universe a couple of years ago that was really funny; much like WOW, people use the game setting for all kinds of things it "wasn't designed for" -except it obviously was - you don't put in roof gardens if you don't want people to find them!)

Fatal Frame 1 & Fatal Frame 2 are amazing and both should and shouldn't be played late at night with the lights out.

I've heard that some of these games are as scary as good horror movies - and it must be amazing to have that fourth wall come down and actually play the story instead of just passively watch it, if the atmosphere and action are done right. Gamefly didn't have either Frame but if they scare you I've definitely got to try them out.

I'll bring them to the next Paramentals meeting -- that way you guys can enjoy them without having to worry about returning them. :)

Well... I played Pong maybe... 3 times...? I always liked pinball better, though I really sucked at it. My monkey brain likes the flashy lights and bells, I guess. I didn't really hang out where those games were played, and I don't have any at home because... well, I can see an addiction happening really easily. XD

I *love* pinball. I'm not good at it either, but it always seems you get 200,000 points just for showing up.
